Media That Celebrates Gentle Parenting

The media that we consume affects us in so many ways. It can influence our perception of events, groups of people and belief systems simply by portraying something in a certain light or via a specific mood.

It also has a massive effect on our well-being because the media we consume has a huge impact on the way we feel. We can feel uplifted after we watch something positive and our mood can become flat and negative when we have been exposed to something sad or disturbing.

For this reason, it is important that we self-monitor the kind of media that we consume. A simple advertisement or television show can shape the way our mind works for the rest of the day and beyond.

All of the above is especially true for our children. Our children’s perception of the world is shaped so much by the media we allow them to be exposed to.

The media they enjoy plays a part in the way their personality develops and the way their mood flows. More importantly though, it affects the way they view the world.

Their understanding of family, relationships and conflict could be predominantly shaped by games they are playing or TV shows they are enjoying. For this reason, it is important that as parents we monitor what they are watching and how it might be shaping their little world.

A great approach is to promote and allow media that celebrates the kind of morals and ideals that you wish for your family.

As a gentle parent, you want your children to practice the kind of empathy and understanding that you bestow on them daily.

Enjoying media that is in line with your family's ethics is really important. This can include video games, YouTube channels, TV shows and movies to name but a few.
