The Surprising Things That Matter To Your Kids

You may or may not realise it, but kids care about things that you would otherwise seem silly. Children often surprise us and while we consider kids more materialistic the truth is kids will astonish you with the things that really matter to them.

You may or may not realise it, but kids care about things that you would otherwise seem silly. Children often surprise us and while we consider kids more materialistic the truth is kids will astonish you with the things that really matter to them.
Here are a few surprising things that matter to your kids:
  • Your presence matters to your kids and while you may consider the kids to be more bothered about money or gifts, instead kids care about seeing you and having you in their lives. Therefore, when you get in from work they come over to you and haunt you until you talk to them! They have missed you and all the buying of gifts will never replace your presence in their life. You are their whole world.
  • Following on from your presence they will love to have time with you and even if it is just spending a few hours watching TV or chatting on the sofa it will fill them with delight. There is literally never too much time wasted on your kids as while they may not show it they adore having you around to spend time with them.
  • Spending time as a family is good but most kids (if not all) love having one on one time with their mum or dad. They want to be the centre of your world so that is why it is vital to put aside time for each child on their own to give them your full attention.
  • Kids love cuddles and kisses, there is no doubt about that and they enjoy embracing you regularly. You may otherwise consider your mad tot independent, but the truth is they love to have a cuddle regardless of their age.
  • Parents are incredibly guilty of half listening to the kids but this isn’t parents fault either. It is easy to be distracted in life with so much going on and not pay attention to your kiddies’ stories. However, listening is one thing kids will notice. They will sense you aren’t paying attention so if it is the case that you are otherwise engaged, tell your child you will discuss it later. Then make sure you do and don’t forget to ask them about their story. This particularly matters as the little stories mean your kid takes joy in sharing stories and as they grow older this creates a good harmonious relationship.
  • It may seem silly, but your kids do care if you are constantly on your phone and they do notice! They may become resentful of the time you give to devices while you don’t listen to them when they want some attention. Don’t make this an issue by being careful about your usage around your kiddie. Place the phones or devices away until later when the kids are in bed so that you don’t get distracted. Most times everything online can wait but sometimes your kids can’t.
