The Best Parenting Podcasts To Put A Pep In Your Step

I think everyone would agree that being a parent is INTENSE and that’s why injecting some light relief into our lives is much needed.

Listening to a parenting podcast is a great way to relax, unwind and have a giggle so I’ve rounded up the best of the best so you can add them to your library.

'Rob Beckett And Josh Widdicombe’s Parenting Hell'

As the title suggests, these guys don’t pretend that kids are angels. Instead, they like to keep it real and chat about all the ways being a parent is the hardest job in the world.

I recently listened to the episode with Kate Lawler as a guest. Kate (originally of 'Big Brother' fame) chats about her one-year-old daughter Noa and the fact that for a long time she didn’t even want children. Her story where she accidentally fake tanned her baby’s face by breastfeeding her with tan on was hilarious! (But maybe don’t try this at home…) Kate recently had her book 'Maybe Baby' published which focuses on her indecision about having kids to then dealing with a newborn. I’m very intrigued to read it now!

'Not Another Mummy Podcast'

I’ve been following Alison Perry on Instagram for a long time now; I love her brutal honesty and no-holds-barred posts, so it only made sense to start listening to her podcasts too.

The last episode I listened to featured Sarah Turner who I’m sure you’ve all heard of. I was interested to hear all about her new book 'Stepping Up' and as I’m a big fan of both bloggers wanted to hear them have a chat together about all things parenting. It’s fascinating to hear about Alison and Sarah’s opposing views on whether or not they look forward to their kids starting school – it’s definitely an emotional time for everyone!

'The Scummy Mummies Podcast'

'The Scummy Mummies' are comedians Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn and their podcast is described as a chat show for less-than-perfect parents – so that would be all of us! Given the fact that their podcast episodes have been downloaded more than 5 million times, it’s clear these ladies are onto something.

I tuned into the episode recorded last year with Vogue Williams and it couldn’t get off to a more "real" start when Vogue revealed her two kids (she’s since had a third) have started vomiting on long car journeys. Helen then spectacularly upstaged her by going into detail about how her kids throw up on long haul flights… If you like hearing people talking about the ups and downs of parenting you’ve come to the right place!

Talking of Vogue, I couldn’t sign off without mentioning 'My Therapist Ghosted Me', her hugely successful podcast with Joanne McNally. While it isn’t aimed at parents, if you’re having a tough day, I can guarantee that this will put a cheeky smile on your face. Just make sure the kids are out of earshot!
