New Festive Films To Watch With The Family This Winter

There are plenty of Christmassy arrivals either on demand or in cinemas to get your feeling all warm and cosy this winter.

We hope you've made your list, checked it twice, and are all ready for the arrival of December in just a few short days. However, unlike the busiest man at the moment, Santa Claus, you and your family should be able to make time to enjoy the latest festive films released this year.

Here's a rundown of the ones you should be keeping an eye out for.

'Home Sweet Home Alone'

When & Where: Available Now, Disney+

Alright, alright, it might be a questionable creation from the House of Mouse this Christmas, but that doesn't mean that it isn't at least worth checking out. While the two original 'Home Alone' films are classics that deserve a re-watch every year, if your little ones are looking for a new gag-tastic comedy film, this should do the trick.

'The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star'

When & Where: Available Now, Netflix

If you haven't seen the previous two entries in 'The Princess Switch' series, then it's time to get watching them! Festive films full of Christmas cheers and lots of Christmas cheesiness, this time around Vanessa Hudgens stars as all three lead women following the mysterious disappearance of a priceless heirloom.

'Encanto'

When & Where: November 24, Cinemas

Disney has managed to bring us yet another animation this year with 'Encanto'. It might not be full of festive cheer necessarily, but there's just something comforting and Christmassy about watching an animated movie in the winter. Brimming full of magic and wonder, it will be available to see in cinemas around the country very soon.

'Robin Robin'

When & Where: November 24, Netflix

Get ready for cuteness overload as you watch Netflix's latest release. From Aardman Studios, the studio behind the likes of 'Wallace and Gomit' and 'Shaun the Sheep' comes their newest stop-motion animation feature set during a rather snowy winter. Gillian Anderson and Richard E Grant lend their voices to 'Robin Robin' and it tells the coming-of-age story about a little bird who was raised by mice.

'A Boy Called Christmas'

When & Where: November 26, Sky Cinema & NOW

Finally, this is probably the biggest festive film of the season. 'A Boy Called Christmas' will see a young boy called Nikolas set out on an extraordinary adventure. In search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, a world of magic awaits him. There's a brilliant cast tagging along for the story, with Maggie Smith, Kristen Wiig, Stephen Merchant, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent and many more ensuring that this is one festive film for the family to remember for years to come.
