Libraries Get Smarter With New Ebook Borrow App

Why buy when you can borrow?

With thanks to the ever-evolving world of technology, you don't have to visit your local library to borrow books anymore, you can now do it from the comfort of your home. In fact, you can do it from anywhere in the world.

Libraries across Ireland have launched a new initiative which allows library cardholders to access, browse and download best-selling books and new releases, as well as old school favourites at any time, using various devices including tablets, iPads, e-readers, PCs and laptops. For Kindle devices, it only works on Kindle Fire only.

And with a large selection of adult fiction, non-fiction and children's titles available, from David Walliams to J.K Rowling, what's not to love?

The online platform, Borrowbox, is available in libraries across the country including Dublin, Galway and Cork just to name a few and allows users to borrow up to 5 ebooks and 5 audiobooks at any one time. If a book you require is already checked out you may reserve it and when the book is available, you will be notified it has been returned.

How can you access this awesome service?

To get started is so simple, all you need is your library card number located on the back of your library card, your pin and an email address.

On any device, library users can now view the latest magazines in news, travel, art, style, parentings, technology and politics 24/7.

When you join a library you are usually asked for a four-digit PIN number that is unique to your card that will allow you access to computer and wifi use in your local library, your online account and ebooks and audiobooks. If you don't have a PIN number contact your local branch to set one up.

Next download the BorrowBox app available from the Apple App Store or Google Play on your tablet or smartphone, sign in and browse the collection of over 13,000 ebooks and thousands of audiobooks that are available.

And if that isn't enough, another app, RB Digital also available on iOS and Android allows you to access to a collection of digital magazines, newspapers and comics completely free of charge. On any device, library users can now view the latest magazines in news, travel, art, style, parentings, technology and politics 24/7.

So what are you waiting for? Get downloading now and find something to inspire, delight or challenge and reignite your love of reading or listening once and for all.
