The Ikea play kitchen comes in a standard colour and design option but has become a popular DIY project for parents.

The Ikea play kitchen is a popular choice in homes all over the world. The modestly priced play kitchen has a simple design making it suitable for all tastes and interior styles. I have been meaning to redo this play kitchen for WAY too long (the fridge has only one swapped out handle for crying out loud 🤦🏻‍♀️). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m starting the design plans for the playroom/family room space and am so👏🏼ex👏🏼ci👏🏼ted!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m getting a lot of inspiration from Montessori and Waldorf inspired playrooms. I mean, they’re always so beautiful, and I’m a huge believer in open ended play and learning through play 🌈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m chatting about it on the blog today and sharing my favourite photos of playrooms from these beautiful IG accounts. Check these ladies out cause their spaces are just stunning (and makes me want to empty my bank account):⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @whiteandwander⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @gemma.leigh.r⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @thefrenchfolk⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @thewondersofplay⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @steph.soj⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @where_learning_meets_play⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @mumma.and.moo⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #squirrellyhome⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ikeaplaykitchen #kidsplayroom #playroominspo #playkitchen #kidsdecor #kidsinteriordesign #kidsspaces #dmlivingwithkids #kiddecor #decorforkids #invitationtoplay #learningthroughplay #imaginationiseverything #letthembelittle #playroom #cornerofmyhome #playroomgoals #pretendplay #dramaticplay #housemadehome #showmyyourhome

The Ikea play kitchen comes in a standard colour and design option but has become a popular DIY project for parents. Some of the transformations will make you resent your real-life kitchen. In some cases the projects involve playing around with colour while others focus on texture and adding new elements to the design. It is amazing to see the level of detail, effort and creativity that has gone in to some of these transformations.

The Ikea play kitchen currently retails at €70 making it an affordable option for a lot of parents. In a lot of these examples parents used tester pots of paint or DIY supplies that were leftover from a job in their actual home. Some of these designs were surprises for a child and in other cases the children got involved in the project, helping transform their Ikea play kitchen in to something really funky and unique.

Here are just some of our favourite Ikea play house transformations. We genuinely wish our own kitchens could look this good.
