Mother’s Day Treats That Don’t Cost A Thing

The best things in life are free!

This Mother’s Day, the things we desire the most actually don’t cost a thing. So if your other half is sweating over hitting the shops, reassure them that something (or everything) on the list below would do just fine. Here are some very easy Mother's Day treats that wouldn't go amiss.

Sleep, Glorious, Sleep

Sleep gets the number one spot on most mums' wish lists for good reason. Once you enter parenthood you enter a world where you constantly feel tired and constantly crave more shut-eye. A night of unbroken sleep and a long lie in the next morning sounds like absolute bliss. You’ll wake up feeling refreshed and revitalised without needing mum-fuel (AKA coffee).

Room Service

However, that’s not to say waking up to a hot cup of coffee or tea in bed wouldn’t be nice. In fact, bring us a pot, we plan on being here a while. Room service needn’t come from a hotel; throw a few options our way and we’ll happily let you know how we’d like our eggs, whether we want yoghurt or porridge, and if we’d like orange or apple juice.

Kiss Me Quick

Once you’ve finished the most important meal of the day, let your little monkeys know that hugs and kisses of appreciation are more than welcome (but jumping on the bed is not). Hopefully, they made you cards at creche or school too so now is the time to hand them over and spread a little Mother’s Day cheer.

Home Alone

While we love our little darlings to the moon and back, a little alone time certainly wouldn’t go amiss. Mother’s Day is our chance for a day off from parenting and a chance to do whatever we please, without listening to any whinging or whining. Only having to worry about what snacks you want, instead of feeding your hungry little birds, certainly makes a change.

Don’t Burst My Bubble!

If you’re finding it hard to switch off, a bath could be the perfect solution. Use your favourite bubbles and bath gel and throw on a hair mask while you’re at it. Now could also be the ideal time to delve into that book you’ve been meaning to start, and you’ll have a chance to get totally absorbed with no one distracting you.

Netflix And Chill

What’s the one thing you’re desperate to get your hands on? No, not the latest designer handbag, it’s the remote control of course! Take the opportunity to binge a series you’ve been wanting to watch forever, or have a movie marathon. A bowl of popcorn would be the perfect Mother's Day accompaniment in terms of treats, just don’t get salt in the bed or you’ll only have yourself to blame when you’re tossing and turning all night!
