It's an absolute scorcher, sure it's hitting the mid to high twenties right now across Ireland - some places 30C. If you're struggling to keep cool here are some tip and tricks to help you through the next few days for all the family.
  • Try to avoid the sun between midday and 3pm when it's at it's hottest.
  • If outdoors try walking in the shade where possible and apply a high factor with 5 stars UVA protection.
  • Try wear lightweight loose fitted clothing, sunglasses with UV protection and a cover up with a hat.
  • Hydrate, Hydrate. Hydrate. Drink lots of fluids throughout the day and try to avoid caffeine.
  • Drink plenty of cold drinks, and avoid excess alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks.
  • Keep an eye elderly neighbours and make sure they are keeping cool and drinking plenty of fluids during the warm weather.
  • Ensure babies, children and animals are not left alone in cars.
  • Head to the cost and catch the sea breeze or maybe hit your local swimming to stay cool in the heat.
  • Invest in a fan. You won't know the sheer joy a fan will bring until you own one during a heatwave.
  • Eat plenty of water-based fruit and vegetables such as pineapple, watermelon, grapes, cucumbers and tomatoes to help keep you hydrated.
