Holiday Status Envy. Perception V Reality!

The Family Holiday: Status Envy. Perception V Reality!
SO you're day is not going too swell, and then to top it off your best mammy friend is posting pictures online in which she’s soaking up the rays, sipping a cocktail and playing with the kids in the pool? (Sad face emoji)
However, are status updates always really what they seem?
Here's what I think:

Status: Couldn’t sleep last night with the excitement of our flight today!
Reality: Couldn’t sleep as she is a bag of nerves worrying about being stuck on a plane for four hours with two young children.

Status: The breakfast buffet here is delicious! I would love to wake up with this every morning!
Reality: She will be waking up to this every morning (at least for the next few days) as her toddler thought it would be hilarious to tip his breakfast over his Mammy’s head. It’s now in her hair, ears, fingernails…

Status: No tan lines for me yay!
Reality: It’s not that she’s cleverly moved her bikini straps out the way; she just hasn’t had a second to sunbathe so her tan will be from a bottle this year.

Status: Got myself some gorgeous Gucci shades!
Reality: Her actual designer shades were jumped on so she had to buy a fake pair from the local market.

Status: The sand here is so powdery and soft!
Reality: The sand is lovely while you’re on the beach; when you find one of your children has made a sandcastle on your bed it feels like grit.

Status: I could dance all night to these Summer anthems!
Reality: She will be dancing all night, just not in a club. The music is so loud it’s booming in the apartment and she is up all night trying to rock the baby to sleep.

Status: Relaxing in the pool with a drink in my hand.
Reality: She’s crouched in the baby pool being splashed in the face while holding her toddler’s beaker.

Status: Excited to read my new book.
Reality: She is excited to read a new book however it’s not hers and it’s called ‘Peppa Goes Swimming’.

Status: I can’t wait to come back next year!
Reality: She’s dreaming that the children will stay with Granny and Grandad next year so she can come back with her hubbie for a kids free break…
