The Return Of The Egg Chair (And Other Fads From 2020)

Isn’t it kind of amazing how a fad begins? What can start with a projected article on what’s going to be fashionable for the year ahead (hello hot pants in Jan 2020… how did that work out for you?), can be quickly hijacked by a global crisis and turned on its head in an instant (hello toilet roll famine of March 2020!).

Despite the fact that it is now 2021, it does somewhat feel as though we are living in an extension of 2020. Especially considering we are still in lockdown. Christmas trees are still up, house renovations are still underway, and the fads continue uninterrupted.

So what’s still trendy? What bandwagon did you excuse yourself from last year that you might take on board now? Why not try to consider some of these fads from 2020 that are still here.

The Egg Chair

The hottest commodity of 2020 is still a thing. Aldi cutely jumped on the bandwagon last year and they sold out in record time. You can find them on Facebook market place or Adverts but are still in short supply!

Endless Swimming Pools

These clever beauties allow you to swim at home without needing a full-length pool. What you’ll need: space in a garden shed and lots of money. Also, goggles.

Log Cabin Home Office

Man and she-sheds be gone to make room for the official outdoor home office. Choose from log cabins or garden rooms. Undoubtedly, you’ll need assurance that you are working from home for the foreseeable in order to invest. PS. Don’t forget the sneaky minibar.

Date Nights

What started strong in 2020 morphed into actual date nights out when lockdown lifted and has now transformed into "who can be bothered". No to this! Get your frock on and break out the nice plates. We still need to make an effort.

Lockdown Babies

Not necessarily un-related to lockdown date nights (!). Keep the cute new baby pics going – they are giving us all the feels!

Family Quiz Nights

Are we quizzed out? I think not. There is always room for more random in-jokes about disastrous confirmation outfits from the 90s. Don’t give up just yet, it's one of those fads from 2020 that's here to stay.

Hot Tubs

Closely related to the endless pool but with more room for company. Champagne sipping under the stars highly recommended.

Tik Tok

One of the biggest fads from 2020, it can no longer be avoided. Get yourself an account and learn some dance moves with the kids, stat.
