One mum has shared the shocking truth behind black marks on baby changing tables in public toilets in a Facebook post warning parents to "always wipe them down, even if you're in a hurry".
Jessica Wayman from Fairland, Indiana, claims that baby changing tables covered in dark stains are from burnt spoons used by addicts rather than dirt or grim.
In her social media post, she wrote: "Before putting your babies anywhere near these things, ALWAYS wipe them down first."
"Even if you are in a hurry, even if you have a blanket to lay down."
"See the black marks? Those are from burnt spoons. Addicts use these as tables while they shoot up," she continues.
"There could be residue from heroin/meth whatever, and other harmful bodily fluids. If someone doesn’t care about themselves, I can promise you, they aren’t thinking about your kids. Be cautious."
In what she describes as a public service announcement Jessica admits she is a recovering addict and "knows firsthand that people use changing tables to shoot up and crush up drugs for snorting."
Jessica continued her post by asking Facebook users to share the image far and wide so it will reach as many parents, guardians and babysitters as possible, warning "it could mean the difference between life or death".
Numerous friends commented under the image thanking her for the warning.
One friend said: "A lot of people wouldn't even think of that. But it's everywhere and I'm really thankful you shared this!"
While another friend posted: "Thanks for sharing. I would have never known. My kiddos are too big for those now, though. But I shared to inform other people. Thanks girl!"
The post has been shared over 148,000 times in the less than five days.
