Family-Friendly Interior Trends For Feel-Good Vibes This Summer

No matter what, we’re all determined to have a good summer this year. If some fun home accessories can help put a smile on everyone’s face, then every little helps.

We’re all about the feel-good factor lately. So, if something makes your heart sing then it’s something that’s worth having in your home. Here are some interior trends that'll have your home feeling all summery.

Welcoming Doormat

Doormats have gone from being the place you wipe your feet to a place for a cheerful welcome home message. Featuring anything from flowers to funky patterns, it’s nice to get a little lift before you even set foot inside your front door. If you love anything customised; you could even get one with all the family’s names on it – that’s one way to introduce yourselves!

Seasonal Wreath

Sticking with the front door, even though lots of us hang a wreath at Christmas, they’re less common during other seasons. However, after spotting my neighbours with several versions and wanting to keep up with the Jones’ we now have a Halloween and Easter one and I’m also getting one for Summer featuring artificial daisies or sunflowers. At least the front door will look "sunny" even if the weather’s not.

Bunting

From the exterior to the interior trends, bunting is typically used for birthdays or a baby’s room but now you don’t need an excuse. It certainly gives off a celebratory vibe and comes in a multitude of patterns and colours. If you have a country-style kitchen it will look right at home strung across shelves and if you want to liven up your living room, position it across a wall or a window. If you want to get the kids involved, why not let them design their own; all you need is coloured card, string and a hole punch!

Chalkboard

If you’re a similar age to me (ahem) you’ll probably either associate chalkboards with school or the place you used to doodle or draw as a child. Now they’re back and bang on trend but this time they’re more likely to be used for writing cute notes to your kids for when they wake up or get home from school. Of course, you could also use them for writing your shopping list but where’s the fun in that…

Bees

We all know how important bees are to our ecosystem, but they’ve also become seriously trend-worthy. They’re everywhere when it comes to home accessories and because they’re yellow they can’t help but make our homes feel brighter and happier. If you’re a fan then you’re in luck because you’ll find them on storage baskets, bowls, bedding and bath towels. Don’t worry, bee happy!
