4 Super Fun Ways To Celebrate New Year's With Kids

The festive celebrations don't end with Christmas for the littles, New Year's Eve is just as exciting.

This year we don't seem to have as many events listed across the country compared to previous years so here are some cool ideas to celebrate in style and to welcome a New Year with open arms surrounded by the ones you love most.

Make a family capsule.

Ring in the New Year by starting a new family tradition. Time capsules are a wonderful way of capturing all the beautiful memories of the years gone and a great way of tracking growth and things that are important to your kids right now in one little keepsake box.

Here are some ideas that you can include in your families time capsule:

  • Pictures of the family.
  • A small memento or keepsake from each person.
  • A list of everyone's favourite song, tv programme, movie, best friend, food and favourite activity of the year.
  • A list of achievements and accomplishments.
  • Predictions for the coming year.
  • Little notes or messages containing funny stories and things that happened during the year.

Once complete, pop it all into a large mason jar or an old shoebox and put it away until next year and see how much you have all grown.

4 Super Fun Ways To Celebrate New Year
The festive celebrations don't end with Christmas for the littles, New Year's Eve is just as exciting.

Netflix countdown.

Each year Netflix gives customers the freedom to decide when and how to celebrate the New Year's countdown with their little ones. With the long-running feature, parents can trick their kids into thinking it's twelve bells with an on-demand countdown with their favourite characters from shows like Beat Bugs, Skylanders, Trollhunters and Puffin Rock just to name a few. So grab out the pots, pans and sparklers and let them celebrate in style from the comfort of your own home at a more reasonable hour.

Make a bucket list for the new year.

New year bucket lists are a great way to sit down as a family and discuss what goals and resolutions you can make as a whole. Once complete, hang it up where you can all see to keep you motivated throughout the year. Make sure to add specific details such as times and dates to help you stay on track.

Throw a party.

Not for everyone I know, but how cool would it be to have your nearest and dearest over for grub and games on New Year's Eve? Keep it simple and more like a slumber party for the smallies or make it a formal occasion with strings of lights and a disco ball. The choice is completely yours. And to keep the pressure off yourself, do what I do and ask relatives and friends to bring a sweet treat or snack!
