3 Crafts For Tweens and Older Kids

Do you have a tween who is getting a bit fed up at home? Here are some gorgeous crafts that will keep them busy.

There have been lots of craft and homeschooling ideas for young kids and toddlers on every inch of the internet lately and while they are absolutely wonderful, it's worth noting that we have older kids at home too who might be feeling a bit fed up as well.

If you can relate to this, we have rounded up three simple and fun crafts and activities that your tween could get stuck into if they're feeling bored at home. And if you have the time, you could join them!

Finger knitting.

Have you tried finger knitting before? Once you get the hang of it, it can be quite meditative. We got this great idea from Debbie at onelittleproject.com. She recommends using chunky wool for kids as they get faster results this way.

To get started, simply tie a slip knot at one end of the wool, leaving yourself about six inches of wool after the knot. Place the loop on your index finger and tighten it. Move the six-inch part out of the way.

Then, using the wool from the ball of wool (not the six-inch end), weave the piece of wool under your middle finger, over your ring finger and over your little finger. Then, wrap the wool over your little finger, under your ring finger, over your middle finger and under your index finger. Still with us? To see what to do next, see the full step by step guide here.

Origami Bookmarks.

Origami is the art of paper folding. It ranges from simple to extremely complicated and there are lots of gorgeous things you can make using the technique. It's the perfect activity for older kids as it requires a little bit of extra concentration but it still involves lots of fun and creativity. One of our favourite things to make are these adorable bookmarks, perfect for any readers in your house. Find the full instructions here.

These DIY marble mugs are so fun to make and work as a beautiful, unique gift for anyone in your life. Or, you can simply make them for yourself - we bet your child would love having their very own unique mug in the house.
