The Good And Bad Things To Expect As Your Kids Mature

As kids grow, they do test boundaries and become a little moody!

As your children grow, they change and alter in so many ways, both physically and mentally. It is perfectly natural, and some days will be great while others will be a little more trying.
As kids grow, they do test boundaries and become a little moody!
Here are some of the things to expect as your child grows older.
Mood swings – Toddlers are notoriously up and down with their mood swings and they hate to hear the word “no!” However, it doesn’t get much easier as kids head towards tween age and you will be thrown into moody land again. Mood swings are part and parcel of parenting and it isn’t just the kids struggling either! Parents who are consistently arguing with their youngsters will struggle to contain their mood and emotions. It is tough.
Personality changes – As above, your child will change but they won’t just become moody as they will change in good ways too. They will become independent, fearless and fearful at times too. They will learn how to play, socialise nicely and they’ll feel sadness too. They’ll become their own person and find their way in the world with you by their side. They’ll get angry and as they grow, they’ll change from a sweet kiddie to an eye-rolling teenager. Then, they’ll grow up and become the most wonderful people with great personalities.
Body changes – A baby grows every single day and toddlers grow excessively too. While growth slows down as your child gets older you will notice they will always need new shoes or trousers until they are at least 18 years old. Once puberty hits your little boy or girl will go through significant changes. They’ll ultimately change altogether, and this is normal but somewhat daunting for parents.
Battles – There will be many fierce battles as your child grows older including independency battles and online activity battles. Some of the biggest things you will argue with your child over is not doing as they are told or them not adhering to the rules. It is only natural there will be battle lines drawn but it makes for a fun few years!
Friendship problems – As your child progresses through school and life it is to be expected that they will have some friendship issues throughout the years. It can break your heart seeing your child hurt or lonely as they have no friends. And then, there is the time when they do have friends, but a silly argument gets in the way of their friendship. It is one of those things that will happen, but it is one that will cause huge upset.
Difference of opinion – You will never get your child to agree with you and as they grow older, they will get worse. They will consider themselves experts and not want to listen to your advice. When they are young you are the centre of their world, but this alters substantially over the coming years. It can be sad to argue with your child, but this is a situation all families face. And guess what? They love each other anyway!
