Here are some of our favourite funny books that are sure to bring a smile to your child's face!
STICK & FETCH INVESTIGATE: THE WRONG END OF THE STICK written by PHILIP ARDAGH illustrated by ELISSA ELWICK
This is one of our favourites - Stick and Fetch are the best of friends and also a top detective duo. Their curiosity can get them into some sticky situations at times, but they always seem to get to the bottom of things in the end. This book is filled with humour and hilarious characters which will keep your child hooked right to the end.
BAD NANA: ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR written by SOPHY HENN
This is a great one for kids who have a close relationship with their grandparents. However, this grandmother is no ordinary nana. But if 7 (and three-quarters) year old Jeanie had her way, her nana would be called Fun Nana, not Bad Nana! This is the fantastically funny second book in the Bad Nana series and each one is as good as the next.
THE GREAT TELEPHONE MIX-UP written by SALLY NICHOLLS illustrated by SHEENA DEMPSEY
This quick-paced, hilarious story will have everyone laughing at bedtime, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. When people in a town get their telephone wires mixed up after a storm, they all get to know each other's lives a whole lot better. Will things ever go back to normal?
HELLO, HOT DOG! written by LILY MURRAY illustrated by JARVIS
The hilarious illustrations are probably the best part of this book, but the entire story is brilliant. Hello, Hot Dog! is about a hot dog who is relaxing on some bread, and then one day realizes that he is about to become someone's lunch! It's guaranteed to get some giggles.
THE DETECTIVE CAT: THE DISAPPEARING DIVA written by SARAH TODD TAYLOR illustrated by NICOLA KINNEAR MAX
Max the Detective Cat: The Disappearing Diva is about a cat who just can't seem to stay in the one place. In this particular adventure, a mouse chase takes a turn for the worst and he finds himself lost and alone. However, while hanging around the Theatre Royale, he notices that the famous singer Madame Emerald is acting very oddly indeed. Will he be able to solve this mystery?
UNCLE SHAWN AND BILL AND THE ALMOST ENTIRELY UNPLANNED ADVENTURE written by A.L. KENNEDY illustrated by GEMMA CORRELL
This is one of those books that you really don't know what is going to happen next, in the best possible way. Children's Books Ireland say that "this truly hilarious adventure story features a cast of original characters and a gripping, witty plotline which remains gentle and accessible thanks to Kennedy’s fun and innovative language." Give it a go! You and your little won't be able to put it down.
