How to change a nappy in 4 easy steps

  1. Prepare

Firstly, make sure your hands are washed thoroughly. Prepare your nappy changing essentials and have them at hand - nappy, nappy sacks, nappy cream, baby wipes and a little bit of cotton wool. It is important to have everything prepared beforehand, as you can't leave your baby unattended as they are able to roll. Changing a nappy - Step 1

  2. Undressing Your Baby

A little-known fact is that baby vests are designed to be pulled down. This is a game changer when it comes to nappy changing time, as it avoids any mess and pulling the vest over their head, which babies tend not to like. To undress your baby, simply pull down the little flaps on the vest shoulders, while constantly talking to your baby keeping them and you calm. Changing a nappy - Step 2

  3. Changing the Nappy

In one hand, take your baby's legs, keeping the other one free to change the nappy and clean your baby. Open the nappy flaps and have some cotton wool ready! To avoid the dreaded pee face with little boys, put the cotton wool straight over their willy when you take off their nappy. For little girls, it's important to note, that hygiene is key. Clean girls from front to back, which avoids any risk of infection. Throw the dirty nappy into a nappy sack and get your new nappy ready. The flaps always go to the back and the image goes to the front. Once your nappy is in place, secure the adhesive flaps firmly. Changing a nappy - Step 3

  4. Aftercare

Once the nappy changing is complete, gently take your baby and put them down in a safe place. Wash your hands again thoroughly, if you don't have a sink at hand, simply use some hand sanitizer. Changing a nappy - Step 4
