20 Things You Are Sure To Find In A House With Kids

When you add the kids to a home you get a lot more 'stuff' than you bargained for

Along with every other aspect of our lives our homes have changed considerably since we’ve had kids.
Here are 20 things you’re guaranteed to find in your house once you’ve had them:
  • A bath full of toys; if mummy wants a soak she’ll be sharing it with a few squeaky friends
  • Stickers stuck to everything from the cupboards to the couch
  • Crayon marks on the walls; we used to immediately touch up the paint but we stopped bothering after a while
  • Dents in the floor (and no it wasn’t from mummy’s heels)
  • A broken DVD/Blu ray player; there’s only so many times that it will put up with being fed toast
  • Family photos everywhere; we love to see their cute faces staring back at us
  • More crumbs between the sofa cushions than in the toaster
  • Too many toys! Are we living in a house or Santa’s workshop?
  • Little stones, flowers, twigs and leaves that they’ve picked up from the garden
  • More Calpol spoons than teaspoons
  • A cupboard so bursting with coats that Narnia could very well be on the other side and we’d be none the wiser
  • A floor that is… less than sparkling
  • More kids films than blockbusters and more nursery rhyme CDs than chart music
  • Scratches all over the table; a tablecloth is now essential
  • Playdough stuck to the carpet, the curtains and the cushions
  • Handprints all over the windows and patio doors; it’s starting to look like someone’s desperate to escape
  • More clothes in the kids chest of drawers than in the mothers wardrobe
  • An overflowing shoe rack (even though it’s got six shelves)
  • Hundreds of felt tip pens – although half of them are dried up
  • Children’s books that have been ripped and coloured on (but we can’t bare to part with them)
