How To Create A Time Capsule

A time capsule is a special way of capturing meaningful memories of a birthday, a special occasion or even to mark the beginning of a new year.

Fun for kids of all ages, a time capsule is a lovely way of storing precious moments in a sealed box, glass jar or tin from a part of your life for a significant period of time.

Not only a fun activity for the whole family, but it is also a wonderful way to remember the past and remind you of what was important to you at one time in your life.

What would you put in it?

The great thing about a time capsule is that it's yours, it is unique to your family and you can do what you want with it. It can hold present-day items such as a family photo, newspaper clippings or even letters or poems to your older self.

If this is your first time creating one, here are some basic things you need to know.

How to create a time capsule:

  1. Choose a container.

When picking your time capsule storage container, it is important that you choose something that is not only sturdy but that is waterproof. You want it to stand the test of time, especially for the environment that you plan on storing it.

  2. Decide where you will store it.

The easy option is to place your time capsule in the back of a cupboard or up in the attic but when kids are involved, the muckier the better. Get your hands dirty and dig a hole in the garden. Depending on how old your kids are now, your grandchildren may be the ones to dig it up. How To Create A Time Capsule
