'Stacey Solmon Misses Her Bump And I Totally Get It'

New mum Stacey Solomon has been praised for her honesty after posting on Instagram about her post-pregnancy body.

Becoming a new mum is one of the most amazing times of your life. That is true. But there is a lot of other things it can be too. Scary, overwhelming, exhausting to name just a few.
In a Pinterest world, it can be hard sometimes to know what to expect when you’re expecting. We are shown mums who “bounce back” straight after birth and are full glam when Baby is 5 days old.
The works for some mums but for many it’s the opposite.
New mum Stacey Solomon has been praised for her honesty after posting on Instagram about her post-pregnancy body.
The Loose Women regular and mum-of-three shared a photo of herself and boyfriend Joe Swash less than a week after giving birth to their little boy.
The baby arrived "a lot earlier than planned" and Stacey, 29, says that she missed "baby being inside me"
Posting a photo of Swash kissing her stomach, she also expressed her sadness at not "appreciating it enough" or getting a picture of herself and Joe with the baby bump while she was pregnant.
Accompanying the photo of Joe, 37, kissing her stomach in an attempt to cheer her up, the emotional caption said: "I've lost it today. I really miss my bump and baby being inside me.
"I don’t feel I appreciated it enough while I was pregnant and now it's over. Joe and I didn't have one picture of him with my bump.
"The thought of not having that memory has been really getting me down so today, Joe and my Dad helped me get a picture of what’s left of my bump to cheer me up. I love them so much.
"It's not the same but it still means the world to me."
Stacey then went on to challenge those who had questioned if she had a 'plan' to 'get back in shape'.
She continued: "For the record, for all of the people who asked me how excited I was to get my pre-baby body back?
"Was I hoping to “snap back”? Am I going to train? Etc etc. I hate these questions. They're pointless. And not important or relevant.
"No one knows how they're going to feel and what we look like after birth is the very least of our worries.
"The truth is I'm devastated that my belly is shrinking by the day. I wish it could stay around for a little longer.
"I feel empty and hollow. Not to mention like I've been punched in the vagina."
I have to say I felt the exact same. On all four of my pregnancies, I missed my bump immediately. I missed not being alone and having my little one safe and cared for in the warmth of her mama's womb. It is totally normal and most mums feel the same.
Many of the TV personality's fans have taken to the post to agree to and to praise her honesty, with many relating to that “empty” feeling after giving birth.

“Oh honey, I found the emotion overwhelming after I had our little girl,” one person wrote. “Just keep being with your amazing family and getting cuddles and having that cry if you need it.”

Mylene Klass commented “Beautiful, beautiful girl “
"Love how honest you are on everything!!! The type of woman young ladies should look up to!" added another.
A third commented: "In a world full of Kardashian’s be a Stacey Solomon."
Another mum absolutely killing it on the “showing all sides of motherhood” front is our very own Irish blogger, Tracey Quinn.
Family Friendly HQ writer and mum of two took to her Instagram three days after her daughter Willow made her dramatic entrance into the world in her living room, to show all sides of how she was feeling.
Bravely, Tracey told followers how teary she was feeling and the rollercoaster of emotions she had been feeling since she went into labour. She showed how in love she felt but also how anxious she felt coming home and leaving the security of the hospital and midwife immediate care.
This is what we need to see normalised on social media and we commend Solomon and Tracey for normalising motherhood one Instagram post at a time.
