Being the host of Christmas dinner can be an exciting challenge. However, it can also be extremely stressful.

Some people try to do it all and Christmas can end up becoming an exhausting and unenjoyable day. Don’t be afraid to delegate and ask for help if you need it.

As well as that, do as much as you can the day and days leading up to it.

Here are some hacks for hosting Christmas dinner:

Easy-peely potatoes.

To make peeling potatoes as easy as can be, just bring them to the boil with skins on and then plunge them straight into cold water. The skins should slide off easily.

Chop vegetables with a helping hand.

To prevent your chopping board from sliding around as you cut up your array of veg, place a damp tea towel underneath to keep it in place.

Where possible, do what you can the day before. Set the table, peel the veg and don’t forget to take out the turkey!

Keep everything warm.

If you struggle with timing and don’t want some of your dinner going cold before the rest is ready, use a slow cooker to keep everything at the perfect temperature until it’s time to serve up.

Drinks station.

So you don’t end up spending most of your day getting people drinks and refills, set up a DIY drinks counter. Coolers, ice buckets, bottle openers, chopping boards, straws in jars and an array of glasses.

You could also add some fruity bits like sliced lemon and lime if you were feeling really fancy.

Kids station.

Kids are really what Christmas is about. As stressful and as busy as it feels to be hosting, try to remember the overwhelming amount of excitement this day brings for the little ones.

A great idea for keeping the kids occupied while you are busy being the host is to set up a kids station. Crayons and pages are a great idea but it is Christmas so why not add some glue and glitter, as well as some plain gingerbread men and things to decorate them with.
