If you have the time, these crafts are a great way to mindfully unwind and distress.

These are stressful times for everyone, and while we've been busy trying to come up with crafts and activities for our kids, our own mental health can take a bit of a back seat, our spare time filled with scrolling mindlessly on social media.

While there is nothing wrong with this in truth, you may be looking for a craft or activity to bring you back into the present without scrolling on your phone. If you have the time (and energy!) here are three of our favourite mindful crafts that will help you to feel calm and present.

Finger knitting

This is a gorgeous, simple craft for adults and older kids too. It takes a bit of practice but once you get into the swing of things, you can finger knit beanies, socks and anything your heart desires. It also requires a bit of focus at first, making it a lovely option for a mindful activity. We found this tutorial for a beautiful cowl on Pinterest (originally from whistleandivy.com) and we can't get over how simple it is!

Knit baskets

Continuing with the knitting theme, this tutorial promises that you can make these beautiful knitted baskets in an hour or less! They would be ideal for use in bathrooms or bedrooms, or if you're a knitting fan, they would make the perfect place to keep your wool! We found this how-to on Pinterest (originally from littleyellowwheelbarrow.com) and we love the results.

Flower wall art

Flower pressing is a lovely way to preserve your favourite flowers and keep them in your home forever. However, did you know that with just a little bit of creativity, pressed flower arrangements can make a gorgeous addition to your home decor?

Once you have pressed and dried your chosen flowers (there are lots of tutorials online, like this one), get two photo frames. Use the glass from the second frame and replace the back of the original photo frame with it so that you can put two pieces of glass back to back in the frame. Pop your dried flowers inside, make sure the glass is secure and voila, gorgeous flower wall art.
