We spoke to a PR manager, a writer, a doting father, a blogger, a fireman, a stay at home mum, a working mum, a TV presenter and a same sex parent to name just a few.

Happy International Women's Day from our family to yours. What a special day to recognize all of the amazing women in your life. Being a woman in Ireland, or any part of the world, is a challenge for so many different reasons. We are mothers, teachers, home-makers, business women, partners and professionals at holding it all together.

As a woman we are spinning many plates and responding to the needs of so many different people. Often this leads to us feeling depleted of energy as well as under-valued and under-paid for a role that quite literally keeps the world moving. Women, you are brilliant and on International Women's Day I am saying that un-apologetically.

The next generation of Irish Women are fierce. I can just feel it. There is a female renaissance happening before our very eyes. We are challenging the expectations that society has for us, exceeding our own goals and finally, for many important reasons, we have choice.

As the mother of a daughter I want her to be happy. It's quite simple really. I want her to be happy in her everyday life. My advice for my little woman is that she can be anything she wants to be.

"to my little woman Willow, you can be anything you want to be even though society may tell you different. Be a builder, be a footballer, be a CEO or be a dancer - be them all if you want. I'll be front row center cheering you on my darling"

To celebrate International Women's Day we spoke to a number of Irish parents. We asked them about their hopes and dreams for their daughters and to offer some advice to them. A collection of beautiful, simple and poignant words of wisdom for the next generation of powerful Irish Women.

We spoke to a PR Manager, a writer, a doting father, a blogger, a fireman, a stay at home mum, a working mum, a TV presenter and a same sex parent to name just a few. They lead very different lives and yet all remain connected in raising girls.

This is the advice they want to give their little women.

Happy International Women's Day!
