As we head into the third month of lockdown, it’s safe to say that most of us are feeling a little like we’ve just returned from a three-day music festival where there were absolutely no working shower facilities or decent food to eat. We are grubby, we are worn out, and our fake eyelashes have fallen off.

In January, lots of us were on top of our game from the December openings. The house was scrubbed, the beauty bits were done, the kids had playdates banked and we figured we’d probably have mostly been sitting by the fire watching TV for the cold month of January anyway. But now, with a date of April 5 pencilled for some easing of lockdown regulations and the sun shining, we are starting to look for new and innovative mobile services to keep the show on the road. And they exist!

Mobile Car Valeting Service

My manky car prayers have been answered. I discovered that there are various companies around the country who will come to your house to sort out your car. Yes, I can do it myself and yes, I can bring it to the drive-thru car wash. But, the joy of knowing that someone will take the stains of coffee and children out of it all and make it smell amazing, are keeping me going.

Kids Entertainment

While kids’ sports and extra-curricular activities are on pause for now, there are some lovely interactive ideas out there to make those zoom classes all the more enjoyable. Little Artists will drop art supplies to your doorstep for an amazing afternoon, midterm and Easter break classes. Well worth looking into.

Dog Groomers

While some dog groomers are still allowed to be open for compassionate reasons (especially for older dogs), there are still mobile services in operation too. They will groom your furry pals in a Covid-safe environment right outside your home!

Beauty

Almost every local beauty salon are offering online skincare consultations and DIY shellac removal kits that can be sent to your home. Say it with me: "I will not pull my acrylics off!" Do your lovely nails a favour and do it right!

Hair Care

I would wager that the number of selfies being taken on a weekly basis has dramatically reduced as we grapple with our beloved hairdressers being closed. The good news is that most are available for advice and some will even mix a colour for you for home delivery. Failing that, companies like Bleach London have a fab range of wash-in colour shampoos and conditioners. Nothing hides the grey like a shock of rose gold hair!

Treats

At the end of the day, so long as your family stays happy and healthy, our nails and waxing and haircuts can wait. Keep doing nice things for yourself and your loved ones to stay positive. Our favourite newly discovered treat is from Sophia’s Treat Boutique who hand-deliver gorgeous grazing boxes right to your door. Just make sure you have a nice bottle of vino ready to go with it!
