Since becoming a mum it's my new best friend

Now I’ve got a toddler Google has become my new best friend; and the great thing is that it keeps everything I’ve asked it top secret! Here are six of the most random things I’ve had to look up:
How many grapes is too many?
My son loves grapes; maybe a little bit too much. I know they’re not the worst thing in the world; after all they’re full of vitamins and minerals, but the quantity he consumes is a little worrying. Apparently it’s best to stick to half a cup at a time although I think he’ll be disappointed unless I use a pint glass…
How many germs are on supermarket trolley handles?
I do the weekly shop accompanied by my toddler however the only way I can get around the store is to feed him snacks along the way. Trouble is trolley handles are apparently filthier than public toilets – yuck! There’s no way I can manage without letting him tuck into his treats so I will be bringing some antibacterial wipes in future!
How to cure a cold
I know, I know there is no cure for the common cold but maybe just maybe Google discovered a treatment and forget to shout about it! I’ll keep checking just in case but in the mean time will continue putting my son to bed with snuffle babe on his feet.
What are the cutest baby hairstyles?
Now I know in all likelihood next time we visit the salon I’ll just ask for the regular short back and sides but there’s no harm in looking at the alternatives. Of course the people who are most likely to push the boundaries are celebrities so rather than looking up what they’re wearing (before kids) I now check out how they’re cutting their kids hair.
How long can children sit in a lukewarm paddling pool without getting cold?
I’ve always been extremely careful with my son’s bath water temperature (classic case of first child syndrome) however he adores being out in the paddling pool when the sun shines. So far I have not felt the need to check the temperature of his pool but simply try to keep it reasonably warm by topping it up every so often. Google does nothing to reassure me on this front however I don’t remember ever suffering any side effects when I was a child and was in and out of ours all day??
How to cut a toddler’s nails
I do know how to cut a toddlers nails, more specifically it’s how to make a toddler sit completely still while I cut his nails. Some suggest that it’s best to do it while they’re asleep but those children must be incredibly deep sleepers. Others advise to do it after a bath so that the child is sleepy. Now I don’t know about you but my child’s bath is all about splashing, racing his boats around and dunking ducks; these activities do not make him relaxed. I’m going with the little and often technique for now and doing two at a time, I normally have one or two seconds before the octopus like wriggling fully kicks in…
