This Wicklow field is blooming beautiful and open to members of the public until the sea of sunflowers finish blossoming.

A field of sunflowers has opened along the sunny south-east at Minmore Farm just outside Shillelagh in Co. Wicklow and it would make the perfect afternoon activity with the family if you happen to be holidaying in the area.

Minmore Sunflower field is a new farm venture, where you can pick your own flowers, get some Instagram worthy selfies surrounded by a sea of yellow sunshine all while raising money for two very worthy charities.

Sown on May 2nd, the sunflowers are expected to peak over the coming days, and all monies raised will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society and Wicklow Hospice, a 15-bed hospice for the people of Wicklow which is due to open in the coming months.

Sunflower season typically lasts from July through early August, so you will need to be quick to snap up this memorable activity with the littles this summer.

Remember to bring sharp shears or scissors with you when you visit, adhere to social distancing guidelines and, of course, we recommend wearing shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty because let’s face it, it’s a very large field on a farm.

The sunflower field is open from 10am - 8pm daily with parking facilities at the entrance gate until the last flowers bloom so keep an eye on their social media pages or contact Sinead on 0870954137 or email starmey@olh.ie for more information.
