A parent’s guilt is something we all have to live with but when you commit one of these you’ll feel worse than ever

A parent’s guilt is something we all have to live with but when you commit one of these you’ll feel worse than ever:

Lose one of their favourite toys
You don’t know how it happened but when you left the house you had it and when you returned it was gone. More than likely it was your child’s fault for dropping it but it doesn’t stop you feeling awful about it; especially if it was irreplaceable.

Shrink their favourite top
When the weather’s as unreliable as it is here you can be forgiven for sticking on the tumble dryer once in a while instead of risking hanging clothes on the line. Trouble is that there are so many different washing instructions for all the different items. If you shrink something of yours or your partners it’s annoying but if you shrink your child’s favourite top you’ll wish you could bury yourself in your laundry pile.

Trip them up
Children are renowned for getting under your feet especially when you’re in a hurry and unfortunately there will come a time when the two of you go flying. It’s bad enough seeing them hurt themselves but if you’re the one that caused it it’s ten times worse.

Make them late
We’re always blaming our children for making us late but there are occasions when we are the ones that are the reason for the delay. Just try and make sure it’s not when it’s their best friend’s birthday

Ruin their artwork
We are always so proud when our child paints us a beautiful picture but unless you hang it up straight away there’s a risk that it’ll get ruined by a spilt drink. When their work of art becomes a soggy mess it’s mortifying.

Give them a bad haircut
Most mothers hate cutting off their children’s baby curls but when their hair is getting in their eyes you have to go for a trim. Unfortunately if you pick the wrong hairdresser they could end up looking totally different and too grown up and you’ll be praying it grows back quickly.

Forget to dress them up
All children love fancy dress and when their nursery or school has a dress up day it’s cause for much excitement. However if you forget the date and your child is the only one who turns up in their regular clothes you’ll feel like putting a mask over your own face.
