Why it’s essential to have a regular “ladies’ night” out with the women in your life and where to have it

Why it’s essential to have a regular “ladies’ night” out with the women in your life and where to have it

Crystal Bar Beacon Hotel
As a busy mum,  it’s essential to make sure you have a regular “ladies’ night” out with the women in your life. Here's why!
  • To escape.  A night out with the gals can help relieve that stress as you get lost in chatter and banter that doesn’t involve all the BS and hum drum of the real world.
  • To bond. In a world where social media rules, face-to-face bonding is becoming a thing of the past. By spending time with your friends in the actual flesh, you get a chance to have actual human contact.
  • To have a reason to get dolled up. They say that women dress up for other women!
  • To have some entertaining drama. There's always goss to share or funny memories to make so you have something to talk about for weeks, or even months.
  • To dance. Let’s be honest: have you ever had a ladies’ night that hasn’t resulted in a bop?
  • To take on the world. The powerful feeling of strength in numbers; there's nothing quite like it. It’s literally you guys against the world.
  • To get your freak on! No one else really puts up with your idiosyncrasies quite like your BF's. You get to let the weirdo in you shine!
  • To get a little space. When you're a mum, space and time for yourself become a thing of the past, so it's so important every now and then to grab a little 'you' time and social time away from the family.
  • To shower and pee alone. Needs no further explanation.
  • To remember why you’re YOU. Your friends keep you grounded. You are the person you are today because of some of these ladies in your life!
I recently had one of the best ladies nights away ever with my best friends and we chose to stay at The Beacon Hotel, Dublin.

Why The Beacon? We're all from various areas of Dublin and the Dublin border. We're all mums. No one wanted to drive very far as we were effectively 'escaping' for just the one night and needed to make the most of our time 'away'. We'd seen it in tons of magazine shoots and had it down as a fancy, upmarket hotel and we were in the mood to be spoilt but didn't have a fortune to spend. It was p.e.r.f.e.c.t.
Although the hotel is so close to Dundrum Shopping Centre and a Luas away from town, it’s nice to feel like you are far away from the city madness to relax. Each bedroom has an incredible modern and contemporary feel. We relaxed in the all white rooms (imagine being a mum and having white walls!) and enjoyed a long soak in the bath in our rooms .

While there is no spa in the hotel you can order treatments and pamper sessions to your room if you'd like. We didn't. We wanted a cocktail instead!
We took the coolest lift I'd even been in down to the ground floor (cool because it had a chandelier in it!) and stepped into Crystal Bar. Their brochure describes it as "a slice of Miami in Dublin's Southside". They were right! It's hip, trendy and unlike any other regular 'hotel bar'. It knocked ten years off us immediately and that was before the cocktails!
We slid into our private booth in the newly refurbished My Thai restaurant and tasted the delights of Chef San's amazing cooking. We chatted, we laughted, we sipped cocktails and we drifted in and out of listening to the tunes being played by the DJ in Crystal Bar. Later that night when all the gossip was shared and all of the catching up was done, we took the elevator home and became one with the Egyptian cotton crisp white bed linen and had a fabulous night's sleep.
The next day, the world was put to right and we felt like new women ready to take on anything (after a lush breakfast and 2 paracetamol!)
