Homemade Beef Burger

Homemade Beef Burger

Great for the family BBQ or for a dinner with salad
1 pound ground beef (best you can afford)
2 tsp  butter
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
Slices of cheese for the top
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon tomato ketchup
Cheese (optional)
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
  • In a bowl, combine the ground beef and salt and pepper, tomato ketchup.
  • Mix an egg in a separate bowl and add half the egg mixture to the beef.
  • Allow the beef to sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then form it into 4 equal sized patties (or smaller for young kids)
  • If the beef is too soggy add some breadcrumbs.
  • Heat a pan and add the olive oil and butter. Add the burgers and cook until your desired taste – approx 6 -8 minutes for medium well per side.
  • Once the burgers have been flipped once cover the tops with the slices cheddar cheese. At this point I like to cover the skillet and allow the cheese to melt all around the burger.
  • To assemble the burgers, spread the mayo on the bottom, topping it with the cheeseburger.
Serve with sesame seed bundies, gherkins and any salad
