You Know You Are Trying To Conceive When You Do These Things

Making the decision to try for a baby is a huge one. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in your relationship. It is a decision that says, on some level, you are ready to welcome a little one into your life. It is exciting and daunting at the same time.

Making the decision to try for a baby is a huge one. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in your relationship. It is a decision that says, on some level, you are ready to welcome a little one into your life. It is exciting and daunting at the same time.
Trying to conceive is not a straightforward process for many couples. It can be a great struggle when there are issues that present themselves during this phase. Many couples require fertility advice or treatment.
Every journey is different, but if you are trying to conceive these things might just sound familiar.
  • You are a professional at internet acronyms. EWCM is a suggested word on your keyboard at this stage and it’s frustrating that hubby STILL doesn’t know what you mean by TTC. Let’s hope he does by the time you get that BFP.
  • You know these things can take time. You’ve been told to expect that but you just can’t help it. You’re already putting dates into online calculators that predict due dates if you were to conceive this month.
  • Your shopping addiction has taken a 360-degree turn. You can take or leave handbags and shoes but a catalogue of prams and cots is enough to make you drool.
  • You love morning time. It’s another opportunity to check your temperature, countdown another day and pee on a stick.
  • When you get that smiley face it’s business time. It doesn’t matter what plans you have or who is around – it is TIME. Aka you are ovulating. This egg ain’t gonna fertilise itself girl!
  • Foreplay just isn’t necessary any more. You’re pretending to be all “if it happens it happens” but who are you kidding? You’ve also started to do some pretty interesting things after you’ve done the deed. Raised hips is a good look, right?
  • Sex is actually really special. It’s a little more scheduled than normal and your other half may have to keep reminding you that he isn’t a sex-machine, but every time you have sex you can’t help but wonder if that was THE time.
  • You’ve never loathed your period more. If she dares to show up she better know she’s going to be greeted by one very disappointed lady. She is not welcome around here. It’s a painful reminder that things are happening slower than you would like. Nature is cruel.
  • You’ve never been more in tune with the human body. You recognise every twinge, change in temperature and fondling your breast tissue is a daily occurrence.
  • EVERYONE is pregnant. Everywhere you look you see bumps. Every movie you see or book you read is somehow connected to pregnancy. You’ve developed an acute skill to scope out even the tiniest of bumps. And naturally, there is always a close friend who announces a pregnancy while you are trying to conceive. RUDE.
