The ultimate signs of being a hot mess mum

Like we can't have it all in life. Sometimes we need shortcuts for our sanity.

Like we can't have it all in life. Sometimes we need shortcuts for our own sanity. As a mother of four, my life is full of them. From store-bought bake sale goods to the kids are looking dapper with freshly cut hair whilst I walk the streets with my week old unwashed mum-bun. But it's cool like, I get it. I'll never be that parent who is organised within an inch of my life.
You know you're a hot mess mum when...
  • You're searching high and low for your phone and your mother whispers in your ear 'what the hell are you doing' and you tell her you are looking for your phone. The one in your hand. The one you're currently talking to her on.
  • You haven't worn a bra in over a week and wonder if you still own one since the kids used it as a rocket launcher at the weekend.
  • The last time you peed alone was NEVER. Sure who needs privacy? Even in the middle of the night, I find toes at my feet smiling, waving 'my turn' as if it's a game.
  • You offered to help out at the school bake sale promising to bake some cookies. Who does that like? Us hot mess mums ain't got time for that. We run to Aldi minutes before closing (or on the school run) and strategically place them in colourful Tubberware. Although not before taken a couple to have for breakfast that morning and making an absolute pig of your kitchen trying to find a box with a matching lid.
  • You find yourself constantly repeating 'are you serious', 'you've got to be shitting me' and my personal favourite, 'you're taking the piss'.
  • You're pretty much late for everything in life and everyone just about expects it from you now at this stage. There's no need to apologize anymore.
  • You find an unidentifiable stain on your clothes and you still wear it because it involves way too much effort trying to find something else to wear.
  • You open the microwave to heat up today's coffee to find yesterdays still hiding out in there.
  • Most recently you were so exhausted from ONE OF THOSE DAYS that your kids slept in their day clothes just because.
