The Chores Your Child Should Be Doing According To Their Age

The Maria Montessori Facebook page shared an age-appropriate chart on what your kids should be doing according to their age.

As parents, we all know how important it is to encourage our children to help out around the house. Not only does it free up your time a little, it also teaches your child independence and responsibility.

However, knowing what chores your kids are capable of doing can be a little tricky. So to help you out, the Maria Montessori Facebook page shared an age-appropriate chart on what your kids should be doing according to their age... starting from just two-years-old.

Even if you don't ask your kids to do everything on the list, the chart is a great piece of reference to what they should be doing and what may be a little bit out of their capabilities.

For instance, in the age 4 - 5 group kids should be well able to prepare their own simple snacks and put away the dishes.

While in the older 10 - 11 group, they should be doing their own mending, mowing the lawn and even preparing simple meals.

However, as every parent knows, a list doesn’t mean that your child will actually do the chores.

We all know how hard is it getting our kids to do anything, never mind clean up after someone else. So you will, no doubt, need a little bit of perseverance.

Obviously, the list was created a while back, but it’s still relevant and should be printed off and stuck to the fridge door (so no one forgets what they're meant to be doing).

Do your little ones help around the house?
