Smyths Recalls Popular Doll Due To High Level Of Chemicals
Smyths Toys has issued an urgent recall on over 1,000 IMC Cry Babies Nala dolls due to the level of phthalates it contains.
Phlathates are a group of chemicals used mainly to increase flexibility, durability and longevity of plastics

According to a Which? investigation, the doll contains phthalates at 25% above the legal limit. Phlathates are banned for use in children's toys by the EU at levels above 0.1% of its total weight.
Smyths Toys estimate 1,260 of these dolls have been sold in the Republic of Ireland.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission are advising parents who have purchased an IMC Cry Babies Nala to check the serial number which can be located on the inside wall of the battery compartment of the doll.

The voluntary recall affects the following serial numbers only: 18/10657/-36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45, 46.

On Monday afternoon, the CCPC announced the recall on their website asking anyone who has purchased an affected model to stop using it with immediate effect.
"First, you should identify the serial number of your product. If your product has one of the serial numbers detailed above, you should stop using the product immediately," the announcement reads.

"Return the product and packaging to a Smyths Toys store. The retailer will be aware of the recall and a refund will be offered."

"If you purchased this product online, you can call Smyths Toys customer service on (091) 336 890 or alternatively complete the online contact form available at"
