Marks And Spencer Roll-Out Autism-Friendly Hours

Marks & Spencer Rolling Out Autism Friendly Hours
Marks and Spencer are introducing an autism-friendly experience to stores across Ireland following a trail in their Blackrock store on Sunday.

The new service aimed at making an inclusive shopping experience for all has been welcomed by families and adults with autism

Some children and adults can find shopping centres extremely difficult due to sensory sensitivity leaving them feeling overwhelmed in certain situations.
Sensory overload can be caused by bright lights, crowds, sudden noises or even unusual smells or odours amongst many other things.
However, during the dedicated sensory friendly time, staff will not be packing shelves, lights will be dimmed, tills will be quietened and assistance dogs will be welcome throughout their stores.
All staff have all been informed of the new initiative.

The nationwide autism-friendly hours commence February 10th and will run every Sunday from 10am for one hour.
The news comes months after the successful launch of their new clothing range for children with special needs which includes dresses and t-shirts with hidden pockets for feeding tubes, onesies with room for cast for children with hip dysplasia and detachable jackets for wheelchair users.

The new clothing range allows young kids up to the age of seven to wear the same stylish, comfortable and affordable clothes as their friends regardless of disability and makes dressing easier for parents.
