Makeup For Mums: A Guide to Quick Makeup

If you're looking for ways to shorten your morning beauty routine, then keep reading

From what I can imagine, mothers of young children don't get much time to themselves - especially in the morning.
If you're looking for ways to shorten your morning beauty routine, then keep reading. I have listed some quick fixes using inexpensive products that just may help you!

The Base
If you're spending most of your time on your base makeup waiting for moisturisers and primers to dry, scrap them. You're only delaying yourself even more. Swap all your base products for a BB Cream. These contain moisturising and soothing properties, coverage, and SPF.
My two favourite so far have been the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfecting BB Cream, and the Rimmel BB Creams. I love how you have the choice with Rimmel as to which finish you prefer, matte or radiance (glowing).
With powders, you don’t have to splash out on these. The pharmacy brand powders are just as good as some more expensive brands. I use Rimmel Stay Matte transparent powder over my makeup, and I just quickly brush it all over my face in the morning.

Sweet Cheeks
If you want a quick way of making yourself look more with less, bronze your cheeks lightly just below your cheekbones. I opt for the Rimmel Natural Bronzer. This is super matte and very pigmented, so I don't need to spend loads of time applying colour onto my cheeks.
Also, add a small amount of blush to the apples of your cheeks. A peach tone is best for this, as it blends quickly and more easily than bright pinks. My favourite affordable blush is the Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher (shades Ambre D'or and Healthy Mix). They have a slight shimmer to these which is great for highlighting the cheeks aswell (like a 2 in 1).

Bright Eyes
If you're very limited for time or you just prefer to stay away from eyeshadows, a good mascara is your best friend. I choose Maybelline Falsies Mascara always.
When it comes to eyeshadows, I swear by the AYU Smokey Eye Palette. This 16 shade palette is my go-to eyeshadow collection every single morning and evening. I adore the soft, matte shades in it. You can go for light and bright eyeshadows, and also switch it up with the darker browns and reddish tones if you like.
I like to use an orange/peach shade (like my blush) because it's easier to apply and blend in a rush, and is also a very warming tone for the eyes. If you like, you could dab a little bit of white or champagne shadow on the centre of your eyelids to lift the eyes and brighten them in the morning.

All About Brows
Eyebrows are an important part of the face. In fact, experts are saying they are the most prominent feature of the face and contribute the most to your appearance. It's easy to keep your brows looking well with eyebrow pencils, but if you already have good colour and shape to your eyebrows, then all they need is a brush and some clear brow gel. Two very good products for this are the No7 Lash and Brow Perfector gel, and the L'oreal Paris Brow Artiste pencil which comes in different shades to suit you.

Quick Lips
Your lips can really help to brighten up your whole look, especially if you choose to go for a no-eyeshadow day. A bright lip paired with a good mascara can look so gorgeous and natural. For day time I love nude lips, and Rimmel recently launched their new Kate Moss Nude Collection. I would definitely check it out if you're a nude kinda gal! For a brighter, more colourful lip, I love the Mother Pucker Lipstick by Soap and Glory in the shade Guavarama.

All of the products mentioned (except AYU, which can be purchased on their website*) can be found in Boots, and many other pharmacies across Ireland.
