Looking for something fun to do this weekend with the family? We've rounded up some of our favourite events taking place this weekend across the country and a majority of them are free too!
 
Irish Fly Fair and International Angling Show - 10th & 11th November
This weekend, join a host of the world's best casters, fly-dressers and anglers at the Bay Hotel in Galway and watch the best in the business practise their art, demonstrate and advise on fly-casting techniques alongside numerous talks and high-quality trading stands. This year to get the younger ones involved there will be an Irish Fly Fair fly dressing competition, kids fly casting competition and kids treasure hunt. Tickets can be pre-booked online at a discounted rate and under 5's go free.

National Gallery of Ireland - 11th November
Pop by the Maples and Calder Creative Space in the Atrium this Sunday from 11.30am and take part in a free drop-in workshop suitable for children of all ages. This week, kids will be creating famous faces from WW1. Then at 12.30am take a free tour of the collection, created specifically for young visitors and their families. No booking is required.

Wild Lights 
Feeling festive? Immerse yourself in a magical night-time event in Dublin Zoo with thousands of twinkling lights. Check out the illuminating giant silk lanterns inspired by the wonders of life aquatic including penguins, whales, squid and polar bears. Traditional Chinese performers will be on hand to entertain and pop by the craft market or fill up at one of the Asian food stalls. Booking is required.

Yarn Storytelling Festival, Bray 
Stop by the Mermaid Art Centre or check out the numerous storytelling events taking place offsite until the 19th of November. The Yarn Storytelling Festival is bursting with folklore, mythology and poetry with most suitable for children aged 5+. Storytelling events are free.
