Budding Fire Fighters Will Love This Irish Museum
They say you learn something new every day and today is no exception. Did you know that we have a Fire Brigade Museum tucked away in the DFB Training Centre in Malahide, Dublin?

Located across two floors in the O'Brien Institute home to the fire brigade training centre just off the Malahide Road, the museum, which has been operating since 2008, houses a large display of fire fighting memorabilia and old equipment once used by firefighters across Ireland.

A large portion of the items found in the historic museum has been donated by families of firefighters, including old models of uniforms and breathing apparatus once used during the 1916 Rising.

Admission for children and OAPs is completely free while a small charge of €3 per person applies to adults. Entry fee includes a tour of the historic and educational museum and of the O’Brien Institute building itself. All proceeds from ticket sales go towards the upkeep of the museum.
So, if you happen to be looking for something a little different to do with the kids during the next midterm or school holiday that is educational, fun and inexpensive get in touch with the museum. Places book up well in advance so pre-booking is essential.

Tours take place each Thursday between 10:30 and 14:00 curated by a retired firefighter. To arrange tours or for further information, you can ring the training centre on 01 222 4199 or email
