Everyone loves pancakes - but how do we mix it up from the same old same old?

Everyone loves pancakes - but how do we mix it up from the same old same old?

There's nothing wrong with the classic pancakes with a squirt of lemon, or a lashing of maple syrup, but sometimes you just need a change of scenery.

And the best way to have fun with your food is to play around with it!

These ideas are sure to help the kids enjoy pancake day and chances are you'll have just as much fun rustling them up.

  • Emoji Pancakes. Create faces in your pancakes which resemble the kids' favourite emojis - it's simple. Use ketchup or fruit to mark out the face before you put the mixture on the pan. When it's all done you can turn it upside down and see your emoji's face.
  • Oreo Pancakes. Trust us - this is not one will be left behind. Crushed oreo's and cocoa powder - need we say anymore?
  • Rainbow Pancakes. There's nothing that screams fun like a stack of pancakes in all the colours of the rainbow. It takes more effort than the rest but it's worth the hassle.
  • Red Velvet Pancakes. The basic elements of a sponge - cocoa powder and red food colouring and transform them into a batter. Done.
  • Peanut Butter Pancakes. Both in the pancakes and on top of the pancakes. What's not to love? Blend down a couple of tablespoons of the peanut butter, a drizzle of oil and some sugar and add to the batter. So simple.
  • Blueberry Pancakes. Dairy-free, gluten-free, blueberries, with goji berries and coffee. We didn't think it could sound this good but it does.
