25 Patrick's Day Parades To Check Out This Weekend

25 Patrick's Day Parades To Check Out This Weekend
March 17th is kind of a big deal to us Irish folk; it's a national holiday and a day of celebration to mark the anniversary of our patron saint, St Patrick. For one weekend only, Ireland will transform and paint itself green as thousands take to the streets in numerous towns and cities across the Emerald Isle. 

Why not soak up the atmosphere in a sea of colourful floats, silly hats and marching bands at one of our magnificent parades taken places this weekend?
 
Here are 25 parades to check out this weekend:
 
 
1. Gorey, Wexford 
The Gorey Parade starts at 3pm at the junction of Carnew Wood, passing through the main street and finishes on Esmonde Street. 

2. Tallaght, Dublin
Festivities kick off at Tallaght Institute of Technology at 1.30pm making its way down the Old Blessington Road and back into the college grounds. 

3. Galway St. Patricks Parade 
Marking its 117th parade, the Galway St. Patricks Parade has changed its route slightly. This years Diversity themed parade will begin at 11.30am from NUIG and will travel along  University Road, over Salmon Weir Bridge, up Eglington Street, past Eyre Square and will finish up on Bothar Na mBan. 

4. Skerries, Dublin 
The Skerries parade will start at 3pm at Strand Street at Holmpatrick ending at The Mill car park. 

5. Athlone, Westmeath
The Athlone St Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 16th at 12.30 starting at Shannon Academy travelling towards Burgess Park. 

6. Tramore, Waterford
The route will commence at Summerhill at 1.30pm proceeding down the main street onto Broad Street. From here the parade will make its way onto Turkey Road past the Railway Station Building. 

7. Mountrath, Laois
Festivities will kick off at St. Fintan's GAA field at 12pm sharp and will make its way through the Main Street. 

8. Maynooth, Kildare
The parade will begin at 11am at Greenfield Shopping Centre, Straffan Road and will end at Tesco Shopping Centre.

9. Blessington, Wicklow
Commencing at midday from the Training and Education Centre, the Blessington St Patrick's Day Parade will make its way right through the main street.
 
10. Killarney, Kerry
Winding its way through the main streets of Killarney, the parade will start on Mission Road at 2pm, heading towards East Avenue Road looping around to the Main Street and will finish up on Beech Road. 
 
11. Belfast, Antrim
The parade starts at Belfast City Hall at 12.30pm and will travel along Chichester Street, Victoria Street, High Street and Donegall Street before finishing up at Writers Square. 

12. Balbriggan, Dublin
Kicking off at the usual time of 2pm, the Balbriggan parade will make its way along Drogheda Street and down towards George's Square. 

13. Waterford City
Officially commencing at 1pm, the parade will come down the Quays from the Bus Station passing The Mall, ending at Parnell Street. 

14. Kilkenny St Patrick's Parade
Starting at 1.30pm, the parade will travel along Market Yard, Parliament Street, High Street and will finish up at Castle Road. 

15. Bray, Wicklow
Starting at 3pm at the Town Hall, the parade will travel to the viewing stand at the northern part of the Seafront.

16. Clondalkin, Dublin
The parade starts at 2.30pm at the Clondalkin Sports and Leisure Centre. The route will bring it down the Old Nangor Road, passed the Ninth Lock Road, up Watery Lane and will finish off on Convent Road. 
 
17. Wicklow Town St. Patrick's Day Parade
Starting at Whitegate at 3.15pm, the parade will continue up the Main Street finishing at Market Square. 

18. Blanchardstown, Dublin
The parade is expected to start at 3pm sharp on the Castleknock Road travelling along the main street before finishing up at Blanchardstown Town Centre. 

19. Cork St. Patrick's Parade
Celebrating the theme 'Stories of Cork' the parade will be a carnival of colour starting at 1pm. The parade runs from South Mall, Grande Parade, making its way through Patrick's Street and finishes at Merchants Quay. 

20. Rathcoole, Co. Dublin
As always, the parade will start on Kilteel Road at 2pm this Sunday and will travel right through the Main Street before finishing up at St. Marys GAA Club. 

21. Limerick St Patrick's Parade
Showcasing the best of the city, the parade will begin at midday. The route will pass down through O' Connell Street.

22. Arklow, Wicklow
Arklow's St Patrick's Day parade will start at Yellows Lane at 3pm travelling towards Main Street and will disperse after it passes the platform at the Court House.

23. Ballina, Mayo
Kicking off at 4pm from Convent Hill, the Ballina parade will finish up at Ballyhaunis Road. 

24. Lucan, Dublin
The parade route will begin at Hillcrest Drive at 3pm heading towards Millstream Road, continuing onto Old Celbridge Road and will finish on the Main Street.  
 
25. Dublin St Patrick's Parade
As always the parade will start on Parnell Square at 12 noon and will slowly wind down O'Connell Street, past Trinity College making its way on to Dame Street. Lasting approximately 2 hours the parade finishes up at St. Patrick's Cathedral. 

As always, be mindful of road closures and traffic diversions on the lead-up and duration of all locations this weekend.
